چکیده

We studied weak localization (WL) and and weak antilocalization (WAL) in a eight-contacts Hall bar made of exfoliated monolayer graphene on Si-SiO2, by means of magneto-transport experiments, at temperatures between 0.3 K and 15 K. At low carrier density (n ' 7 × 10 cm−2) we observed a transition from WL to WAL driven by the increasing of the magnetic field, while at high carrier density (n ' 2× 10 cm−2) only WL was observable. We analyzed the magnetic field driven WL-WAL transition and we evaluated the temperature dependence of the de-coherence parameters using an alternative method compared to previous studies. The values we obtained were corroborated by a root-mean-square analysis of the amplitude of highly-reproducible universal conductance fluctuations.

Weak antilocalization in epitaxial graphene: evidence for chiral electrons.

Transport in ultrathin graphite grown on silicon carbide is dominated by the electron-doped epitaxial layer at the interface. Weak antilocalization in 2D samples manifests itself as a broad cusplike depression in the longitudinal resistance for magnetic fields 10 mT<B<5 T. An extremely sharp weak-localization resistance peak at B=0 is also observed. These features quantitatively agree with grap...

Electrical transport in rings of single-wall nanotubes: one-dimensional localization

We report low-temperature magnetoresistance (MR) measurements on rings of single-wall carbon nanotubes. Negative MR characteristic of weak one-dimensional localization is clearly observed from 3.0 to 60 K, and the coherence length L(varphi) is obtained as a function of temperature. The dominant dephasing mechanism is identified as electron-electron scattering. Below 1 K, we observe a transition...

Transition between electron localization and antilocalization in graphene.

We show that quantum interference in graphene can result in antilocalization of charge carriers--an increase of the conductance, which is detected by a negative magnetoconductance. We demonstrate that depending on experimental conditions one can observe either weak localization or antilocalization of carriers in graphene. A transition from localization to antilocalization occurs when the carrie...

Staying or going? Chirality decides!

When an electronic device is cooled to low temperature, the wavelike nature of charge carriers becomes detectable through quantum interference effects. One example is weak localization, a small decrease in the conductivity of a disordered conductor [1, 2]. Since interference depends on the quantum-mechanical phase of electronic waves, the experimental signature of weak localization has been use...

Magnetotransport in disordered graphene exposed to ozone: From weak to strong localization

We present a magnetotransport study of graphene samples into which a mild disorder was introduced by exposure to ozone. Unlike the conductivity of pristine graphene, the conductivity of graphene samples exposed to ozone becomes very sensitive to temperature: it decreases by more than three orders of magnitude between 100 and 1 K. By varying either an external gate voltage or temperature, we con...
